In this set of works, I invoke 9 people. I analyse the traces that they could have left in the minds and memories of others. I know all of them from family photos, some of them appear many times, I managed to get some info about a few of them. I tried to imagine the personality of each of these people. Sometimes it was easy and I got a clear concept, at other times, it was harder. Characteristic and plastic conclusions look more or less like this, starting from the left:
o “A man with a foulard” is a typical dandy aware of the impression he makes. Although it is a strong impression, it is also fleeting; an impression of a person based on his appearance and clothing – a tall, straight blond man, in a small elegant hat, and with a slightly “flying” foulard around his bow tie, quite cold emotionally (cold gray and blue sky), the cigarette held in his left hand, which characterizes the vast majority of men in the photos – probably the cigarette is an element of fashionable appearance, and the right hand is free to greet friends during a stroll.
o “Friends” – an older man with a strong personality, though a bit short in posture, which he neatly conceals with his tall, narrowing hat, and his confidence, with an inseparable cigarette and leather gloves, and a younger man, perhaps still a student, only shaping his life attitude, looking up to the older guy.
o “A Stroll” of three people – a beautiful lady in the company of a younger brother or even a son who’s already a student, and her husband, earning his family on a contracts far away, hence his darker skin colour, and maybe even oriental features – he might also have family ties with those “faraway places”.
o “Girlfriends” – unquestionably, one has the so-called artistic soul and exudes an unpretentious charm; while the other is her opposite – she is a person “who crosses her T’s and dots her I’s”, is exaggeratedly “arranged”, balanced, modest in her clothing, the type of a perfect chaperone, no scratches or distinctive elements, melting in the background of the others.
o “Woman in a hat” – eternally laughing and moving, carefree, in a coat flying open, her scarf in hand. She emanates with warmth and joy, but it is hard to catch – there are some remains, the general brightness of the figure and its fuzzy form with few accents.
They form a group of characters, but also a painting group – the dimensions of the paintings, their composition, colour and interaction have been planned and sketched so that they work both as a whole (shown in a non-linear spatial layout) and each canvas by itself.
